About Nick

ACA-registered counsellor, certified breathwork teacher, and mindfulness meditation teacher. Based on the Mornington Peninsula.

Nick Lines

I came to this work through a long-standing curiosity about consciousness, a personal meditation practice, and years spent supporting people through difficult moments. Along the way I've volunteered in harm reduction with DanceWize at music festivals, mentored men through Mentoring Men, and most recently worked as a support therapist in a psilocybin clinical trial for treatment-resistant depression at the Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra.

Before entering private practice, I spent two decades as a creative director — in Sydney and Los Angeles — and came back to the Peninsula with my family during COVID. I know what it looks like to hold a lot together on the outside while something else is happening underneath. I've been that person.

I'm an ACA-registered counsellor, a certified Pranayama breathwork teacher (Yoga Alliance International), and a mindfulness meditation teacher currently completing the two-year MMTCP program with Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach (graduating January 2027).

"I've navigated a lot of what I work with — the anxiety, the burnout, the feeling of going through the motions. Breathwork, meditation and my own time in therapy have been central to moving through it. I bring that experience into the room, not as a story, but as an understanding of what it actually takes."

What men bring to this work

Most of the men I work with don't arrive saying 'I have anxiety' or 'I'm depressed'. They say they can't sleep. That they've been short with their partner and don't know why. That they're drinking more than they mean to. That they feel like they're spinning — busy, but not going anywhere. That they've lost interest in the things that used to matter.

They wouldn't always call it stress. But that's usually what it is.

You don't need a diagnosis or a crisis to come. If something feels off, that's enough of a reason.

My practice is inclusive of all genders, and much of my work has been shaped by walking alongside men — and understanding why asking for help can feel harder than it should.

"A teacher in my meditation training offered this: 'You are perfect the way you are — and there is still room for improvement.' I've never found a better description of why this work matters."

The approach

Sessions are person-centred and integrative — drawing on principles from ACT and CBT, grounded in mindfulness practice. Practical tools, not abstract theory. The aim is to help you understand what's going on and build the capacity to move forward from where you actually are, not where you think you should be.

Outside the practice

I live on the Mornington Peninsula with my family. I maintain my own breathwork and meditation practice, work under regular clinical supervision, and continue professional development through the MMTCP program and ongoing ACA requirements.
